What are we doing?
We are building story-telling spaces for neurodiverse people. In seven workshops in August and September 2023, neurodiverse people will share their stories from various public spheres; education, community organising, work and welfare.
How did we get here?
Although the mental health industry is thriving, the mentally ill are not. For centuries those of us who struggle the hardest have hidden the most. We mask ourselves and society hides us too. Even the hands tasked with helping usher us towards private spaces. As more of us find each other and share our stories, we are releasing the shame that grows in hiding. We are re-writing our stories. A more hopeful, empowered future beckons.
Amanda Tattersall noticed the vital role of our public spheres in that future. Workplaces, instead of buttering psychologists’ bread with a steady stream of distressed employees, can instead take responsibility for their communities’ mental health, publicly. Such a shift will shine a light on neurodiversity and mental health, rather than sweeping it to the realm of psychopathology. This will be no small transformation. It begins with a public conversation. Please join us for it.
